Tonight with Moeed Pirzada: Government has failed to provide electricity at low cost, Dr. Farrukh Salim.

Electric and power Analyst, Dr. Farrukh Salim joined Dr. Moeed Pirzada to discuss the ongoing electricity crisis in Pakistan.
The current situation of Power generation in the light of the statement by the Water and Power Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif in one his Tweets was discussed. Dr. Farrukh Saleem said that due to electricity theft and mismanagement, the authorities are unable to manage the shortfall.
During the discussion, Dr. Farrukh Salim Said 30 % of the total electricity in Pakistan is generated through water.

Dr Saleem also said that a large number of electric power generation units are inactive.
He also revealed that 20 per cent of the total generated electricity is being stolen. He said that this is consequent of the inability of the government to providing electricity at low cost.
The government, he said, has incapacitated the National Electric and Power Regulatory Authority. He said that the government has achieved this through passing a law that has stripped NEPRA of its autonomy.
