Pakistan’s monthly power outages among highest in Asia: Asian Development Bank

Pakistan’s monthly power outages among highest in Asia: Asian Development Bank

KARACHI: Pakistan needs massive investment in energy infrastructure as the country endures one of the region’s highest numbers of power outages, causing heavy losses to industry, said the Asian Development Bank (ADB) .
The ADB, in a report, said Pakistan faces 31 power outages in a typical month – a little better as compared to 51 in Nepal and 65 in Bangladesh.
“On average, firms in developing Asia experienced slightly more power outages than those in other developing countries,” the Manila -based lender said in the report, ‘Meeting Asia’s Infrastructure Needs’. “While actions have been undertaken by some countries, (yet) considerable investment will be needed in the short to medium terms to make the power sector greener through reducing emissions and switching to renewable energy.”
The Bank said developing Asia, consisting of 45 developing member countries, will need to invest $26 trillion over the 15-year from 2016 to 2030, or $1.7 trillion a year on transport, power, telecommunications and water supply and sanitation.
It said Pakistan had one of the region’s lowest electricity generation capacities per capita over the past one decade. Contrary to an average 7.4 percent growth rate in Asia, the country’s power production remained flat between 2000 and 2012.
“Developing Asia’s electricity generation capacity per capita, a key indicator to measure the power infrastructure of an economy, grew at a rapid average of 7.4 percent annually between 2000 and 2012; yet it remained slightly below the average for other developing economies and substantially below the OECD (the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) average,” it added. A report’s graph showed that Pakistan’s electricity generation capacity and its annual growth stayed at below zero percent similar to Afghanistan during the period between 2000 and 2012.
When it comes to water supply infrastructure, only 0.4 percent of the country’s population in rural areas has an access to piped water, while villages have also poor sanitation facilities. The ADB acknowledged that the country considerably invested in sanitation facilities and observed a substantial growth in the coverage.
“However, the region as a whole (52 percent) still lags far behind the OECD level (96 percent),” it said. “Among those with large rural populations, India, Indonesia, and Pakistan, for example, had rural access to sanitation below 50 percent, which means a significant amount of rural residents are still suffering from the adverse impacts of lack of sanitation.”
The Bank said infrastructure investment from private sector in Pakistan stands at 30 percent of gross fixed capital formation despite “the importance of private infrastructure investment is less in India and Pakistan.”
A report’s table showed that private sector investment in infrastructure is over two percent of GDP in Pakistan, more than the ratio in Malaysia, Bangladesh and Thailand.
In China and India, these ratios are nearly seven percent and more than five percent, respectively. ADB said Pakistan needs substantial fiscal space for growth-enhancing priority spending on infrastructure.
The country also needs to firmly reduce public debt as it remains vulnerable to shocks, while additional tax measures are needed to realize full revenue potential of 2.2 percent of GDP by 2019/20.

Team Moonis Elahi

I have conceived and developed PTI digital media wing and have done Informational research and development for PTI.

Dear Respected Reader,

I, Danish Farid Khan, am a hospitality graduate who spent a total of eight years in Dubai, studying at first and then working professionally with the elite Strategy & Excellence function of one of the most sought after hospitality conglomerate — Jumeriah Group. I had an extremely well-paying job and planned career trajectory with Jumeirah, however I was not content within living and working in Dubai. I wanted to serve in my own country, Pakistan; therefore I eventually left my promising career, to make the move back home.

Growing up in a family that had been deeply involved in politics and had served in the military, I had developed an innate and instinctive interest at a very young age, of following global and national trends that shape the world affairs and also affect the lives of millions of Pakistanis. Observing such trends since a young age, and given my exposure, I developed opinions and views which I started to share on my Twitter account that has since accumulated a following of over thirty-thousand people — including leading politicians, media-persons and defense analysts, among a wide array of segments, especially the youth.

When I came back to Pakistan in 2012, I was invited to meet Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf — PTI, whom I had been supporting since his professed ideology of bringing change in Pakistan mirrored what I believed in myself. I put my efforts in pioneering one of the most potent and effective PTI central organization that set national narratives & possessed the capability to mobilize street power through the use of social media, especially during the elections of 2013 and subsequently in the movement known as the Azadi Tehreek of 2014. I also later worked with the Secretary General of PTI, Jahangir Khan Tareen, in setting up his media team which played a crucial role in his win in the by-election of Lodhran, a part from linking and expanding network of the party’s information capabilities to far flung areas like FATA and Balochistan.

However, having worked with PTI up close and personal, I found them to be lacking a great deal in their commitment to their professed ideology [which was and is still admirable], and thus became disenfranchised. I was not able to compromise on my ideals in order to assimilate myself with the political norms which I vehemently opposed in the first place. I am self-taught in the art of informational structures, objectives, communications, and warfare, and seeking a role to harness my talent and improve on my capabilities in order to continue serving Pakistan in a way that brings change in our society. Therefore, I would be grateful for such an opportunity.

Best regards,
Danish Khan

Terrorism to hurt Pakistan cricket

Dear Dr. Saheb

I was watching your interview with rtd General Musharaf today and fully agree with his comment regarding the recent wave of terrorism and that it is fully connected with Pakistan’s attempt to bring back international cricket to Pakistan. Having a very short memory, We don’t learn from history. Not many years ago, there was an attack on Sri-Lanka team, there were 3 Pakistani players caught in match fixing scandal depriving Pakistan of some of the best players at that time hurting our team’s performance in the world cup. What did the government do about it. NOTHING. Today, after almost 8 years, we have a repeat of same events in a similar pattern. Terrorist attach, cricket event being held in Lahore and bookies from India getting involved with our players. Unfortunately, some learned and bright minds in Pakistan will discount as “conspiracy theory”. The bookies were arrested in London, should’nt Pakistan had involved ICC into this involvement then. And what about now ? A few press releases by our high (in) “competent” cricket official this whole issue will be swept under the carpet and life carries on.

It is time the cricket officials and Pakistan foreign office (if one exists) should take this up with ICC and demand a full investigation and reach to those who perpetrated this evidence. We may never, find the link to Bharati Agencies as they are very good at covering their tracks, but at least they know that, some one coming after them and that it might also have consequences that may become detrimental to Bharati cricket. On the home front it seems no body briefed the players of the bookies-Raw nexus that are bent on destroying Pakistani cricket. Our knuckle head cricket officials should have pro-actively dealt with such possibility and educated the players before hand.

In summary, all of the above reflects a utter failure of Pakistani cricket and government officials to foresee things and take preventive action to preempt such from happening.

You can publish this or refer to it without mentioning my name.

MP Sir. A BTC Billionaire knows nothing about family life…

Dear Moeez Pirzada Sahab,
I am writing this blog as a letter to you. If anyone else reads it. Its their wish. Also my wish but if they choose not to read it further or MP Sahab if you also choose not to further read this I humbly apologise on behalf of Sakomoto and Pi to have wasted your time.

I humbly apologise in advance if this post offends anyone. I will stay away from any sensitive topics. Please Edit as you wish as long as the message remains similar or become even better – Clearer – simpler. With years of your knowledge, I am just a kid writing on behalf of an Indian Pakistan (IP), who made his money with bartering Intellectual Property just like his name MIP. Nobody knows who is in the world, except the family members. That too far and few in between. She is a founder of an organisation called MIP. It was a movement started 33 years ago, and they launched their own currency a long time ago. They are billionaires in BTC ( currency aka Bitcoin – Founder Satoshi Nakomoto – Real name or identity – No one Knows – IP willing to pay 1Billion Dollars in BTC to anyone who can help find him through his Bitcoin Address. But Expense of Travelling to find should be $100000 if Cards, $1M if cash, $5M if BTC and $10M if Pi’s).
She understands that BTC as an initiative was a great starting point but the people who should be deciding what currency to use in the world should be people from the area where the population has always been the highest for Eons. Just between Ganges and Indus. Baray Sagheer Between GI. She wants to start everything from India and Pakistan, Moving to Indonesia and Philippines, Paraguay and Peru, And then the world. She wants to celebrate her success in life on a day when Someone created the Pi’. or and Our Pi did not remember more than 5 digits of Pi but he understood the Magic of Pi. He has funded many movies indirectly and inspired many stories indirectly. Sometimes, by putting random books in writers hands. Through Gifts, and Recommendations of friends who have been part of the platform for a long time. Why doesn’t anybody know about the platform. Simply because it was being Tested for the last 25 years by an Organisation called MIP.

Thats a movement of International Pakistanis (IP’s) to selectively and collectively use their personal intellectual property and their time to better the Sufi World. There were 100 members till 1983, I believe then it became 300 members by 2004 primarily because of a big recruitment drive at London Based universities. Thats where we used Pakistan Societies to Manage these members. We are an above board, happy to share all information with security agencies ONLY. Doing good, much like WFP or Doctors associations of Pakistanis around the world. OR World Memon Organisation which is by far the biggest contributor in Pakistan – In our estimates 3.33% of Pakistan’s True Population is Memons and Aga Khanis and they contribute more than 66.66% of Pakistan’s Charities. We would Like to contribute the remaining 33% as an Organisation. 0.33% should some from every Individual in Pakistan as our membership fee. We give free Umrah to every member, so the membership fee would always work out cheaper and its only paid by people who use a service. Non users do not pay because we charge everyday in countries with digital currencies or every week in countries with cards and every two weeks in countries like Pakistan where we pay Cash if local regulators allow. We are helping 118 Global organisations with Payment Distribution Systems, and We are Happy to Assist Nadra by investing a $100M Dollars through BTC or even better we are willing to help Nadra split Nadra into 33 Companies and we will Guide Nadra how to manage those companies – Note : Just Guide, not advice, not enforce – only choices. Nothing else. Thats our Moto. Choice!

As you can see I am going all over the place. Thats how she is asking me to write. I am just a typer she hired. Who believes in her so much I am doing it for free 🙂 because I am the CSO of the company. Okay my turn now, the writer is a young guy who was recruited 15 years ago by me personally for the organisation. He worked for a year but we didn’t pay him much back then. He was an intern but he had potential of Intellectual Property Broker (IPB) . We loved his work but never told him. We eventually offered him a Job for 100K GBP a year, for him that was a Million dollars back then. Yet he just worked for two weeks as expected. He left a note for the whole team who was working, If you don’t want to take risks in life, you will end working for those who do. Since then the organisation has not hired anybody, everyone has to register their own company and become an entrepreneur. He started many initiatives as a side thing for the platform and he always used to say one day I will come back. He moved to Pakistan for 5 years and started some business there. He made good money but he was never satisfied, because he wanted to change the world starting from Pakistan. “Okay she is talking to much about me ” MIP.

He moved to South Africa and after a few years of working part time for the organisation he finally decided to join but he availed the services i.e. Holiday before Work Concept that he had originally started. He took a year off wandering the world. Joined Harvard. Did some secret Gamification Courses. Joined all the organisations he could get into. IB, FIA, SECP, ACME, UPWORK, YPO, EO, ADvanceNet, And did probably 1M dollars worth of courses. Long story short, he finally agreed to sell his company to us for 5BN Dollars and Asked for Funds in Pi’s / Cash / ZeeCash / Bitcoins and Egigs over a period of five years but he requested us to fixed the exchange rates for him to reduce complexity which we did. The problem is his family is very worried about him, because they do not believe him. And right now he is crying as he types this. And yet unfortunately he has to type because he promised me today that he will do whatever it takes to not leave. He just resigned a few days ago, because his wife doesn’t believe him. I am telling him to make the whole world believe that we can change this country through our investment of 5BN Dollars over the next 7 years and have someone Credible to become the President of the country. He agrees. He thinks it would take less than 7 years and less than $4Billion. But thats too far fetch for now. Because We love the current PM and President. SO much so that today because of him we were delayed on our flight to Islamabad.
Bonus: We want 444 eggs to be thrown at LED444 Porsche Carrera or Boxer not sure. 200 passengers wasted 1:11 minutes of our time because PIA couldn’t offload one Gxx DxxN Vehicle. We will pay everyone 0.01 BTC = $8approx to throw a Sara Hua anda on the car. We can send the video to anyone who is willing to take a lead on this project. Please make sure there is no security concerns. We are very above board. Even if someone creates a webpage and allows people to throw eggs in a game we would rather pay 4.44 BTC to the person developing the game but then Pi platform will keep 1/3 of revenues. Moeed Pirzada Sahab should be given 1/3 of Revenues. We should charge everyone Rs.100 per egg. And some store should put QR codes on eggs that can be bought for 100Rupees. Usually egg cost according to our platform is Rs.10, please donate the remaining Rs.20 for free eggs for everyone. Thats 1/3 of our revenue gone. Please spend the rest wisely. Someone could alternatively put a QR code on every egg, but only 1/10 eggs should have the real code. Rest should be a code to our platform. Everyone who joins : Didi MIP, will give 1π to everyone who registers for further tasks. Further tasks to be paid at fixed price of either 1π per hour, or π for 3 hours depending on Life Experiences not work experience. No more than 3 hours a day allowed without recruitment process. Chances of passing recruitment process 0.1%. Unless you have met one of the founders because they like to offer on the spot Jobs. Thats the liberty they enjoy. Because unlike other currencies the biggest promise and trust of all is that Pi doesn’t issue currency to any of the founders. They have to spend other currencies. Otherwise they might end up misusing it. Thats why they also have to buy their own currency.
1π = Rs. 3000 in Pakistan , If you believe us we will pay you 0.01π for every word of article you write on ur blog. How would we know. End every word with π and link that pi to our site. Domain name only to be given to members. Apologies. Its a rule.

Today could be the last day of his work. He is also worth 5BN dollars. Now I will let him say whatever he wants as long as he says it simply and straightforward. Simply because he has never told anyone how much is he worth. If you have recognised him, please don’t tell anyone. If you do, he will resign anyway. He did put that condition.

Please help me convince MIP that IMIP. One of the Original founders of a currency which has 1Trillion Dollars of Assets for Barter or Sharing. I am worth 5BN Dollars but who cares. My life styles hasn’t changed, my wife doesn’t believe me, I feel like I cannot be myself in my own house. My family is amazingly materialistic, they don’t want to spend money but they want money too. Whats the freakin point. To hell with it, I am donating 2.4BN Dollar of my own money and putting 2.5BN of my wife’s money in a trust. She has given me till my Birthday which is on the 31st of February ( Why should I tell you – thats my Intellectual Property). I have hundreds of tasks to give out and even my position to give out if she doesn’t agree by the 14th of March which is the Launch date of Pi xChange in Pakistan if we get our approvals today in Islamabad. If we don’t we will only comeback to Pakistan 7 years from now if MIP doesn’t stay. Just like BTC Pakistan will unfortunately miss the ride and miss the 5BN dollars of Investment. Movement of Information for Pakistanis (MIP). When I turned 58 I had decided I will give all of it away but I also have two very old Boys just like Pi. I would love to take 1.4BN back from you guys and actually give it to my siblings. Actually even better. 1BN for the country, 1Bn for the family, 300M to make Pakistan’s biggest reality show. $100M for myself. and $100M till my birthday. What if she agrees then, I will have another 1.25BN to play with who whooo…

Sorry guys and girls, I am bragging I am really really sorry. Honestly, wouldn’t it hurt that the day you were allowed to share all your secrets after 15 years, and you share a bit of it and nobody believes you. Everybody who believed me I would love to go on a holiday with with you (Open invitation to everyone – Call MoDo at Universal Express to Book for free – Bookings from 14th of March – Maximum Group size 100 people) . Please pray for me and for my family. You still don’t know who I am , And IA uncle will make sure Insha Allah you never find out. I can tell you IA uncle is the Chairman of one of the Groups – And his name is Iqbal Adamjee. But lets call him IA Uncle. I hope this name doesn’t reach more than a Million people.

Last but not the least, When Warren Buffet or Bill Gates donated 50BN Dollars no one asked for proof because they were lighter then Didi in colour. Didi is certainly worth more than 70BN in Various currencies plus Gold plus Lots and lots and lots of Islands and lots of Silver and of course Indirect shares of Uber/FB/Apple/Google/Airbnb/Marriott/SCB. Didi will only give proof of amount committed, and amount would be committed through press conference. Only problem. Didi, IP or Pi won’t come.

Thanks

MIP

PS. Please take the lead on this. Today is our last day. Didi also thinks she doesn’t have much time left. Please treat this as urgent. Happy to pay you in advance or just email our corporate email i@uprise.com – Subject: I have 3 Questions before I trust you? and your three questions if you have any. Please send ur bank account number as well. WE still need to send you your haq.

Dunya TV – Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Refreshes Nation’s Memory in Interview

PMLN is famous for building roads and does not shy away from taking full credit of it. They are known to even take credit for most of the work they have not initiated but have become a part of its completion. Known to remain in the spotlight through advertisements and displaying banners on Mall road Lahore, CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has become the most prominent politician of the country.

Former Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi appeared in a TV interview on Dunya TV and when asked the question about his performance in Punjab said, “I have built roads more than 37,000 KM in Punjab”. When asked why doesn’t the public remember those roads, he answered in the most humble way that his government’s priority was to serve the people of Punjab and not use their tax money for personal glorification.

Moonis Elahi, son of former CM Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has been a member of the Punjab Parliament since then and played an active role during his father’s tenure. Being a young politician he was mostly assigned tasks which would help him understand politics of Punjab and hone him to become a good future leader. Moonis Elahi wasn’t present in the Dunya TV interview but was discussed more often in it.

During the PMLQ era, Punjab had a record GDP of 7.5% and people’s lifestyle was greatly alleviated during that period. Moonis Elahi was tasked to learn as much as was possible and neither he nor his father ever used taxpayers money to glorify their acts of good governance. The former CM also recalled his social welfare projects and Rescue 1122 is one of their greatest gifts to the nation for it is a one of kind ambulance service which has the ability to cope with international standards.

Moonis Elahi pointed out Shahbaz Sharif works in a different fashion and he is known to sabotage or completely shut down the projects of his opponents without thinking about the effect it will have on the poor nation. PMLN’s vindictive policy has done this country great harm but since their advertisements are too strong and targeted, people tend to forget the good works of the previous governments and think every positive work done is by the PMLN.

When asked during the interview by host Dr. Moeed Pirzada about the future of Moonis Elahi in future politics, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that his son was ready to enter politics and he has matured now. It would not be wrong to say that among the young politicians, Moonis Elahi & Hamza Shahbaz are the only ones who have been a part of a government. Bilawal Zardari has now entered politics, holding rallies and delivering thunderous speeches but has zero experience of are the duties of a political leader.

Indus Waters Treaty Will Be an “Act of War”: Sartaj Aziz

September 19, 2016 marks the 56th anniversary of the signing of the Indus Basin treaty by India and Pakistan. The agreement signified the end of a long dispute between the two countries and opened the door for increased economic development in the region. Though the treaty has survived India-Pakistan wars of 1965, 1971 and 1999, this time India is evaluating its pros and cons, indicating that the government may look at options to claim water resources without breaking the alliance.
Under this accord (Indus Basin treaty), control over the three “eastern” rivers — the Beas, Ravi and Sutlej — was given to India and the three “western” rivers — the Indus, Chenab and Jhelum — to Pakistan.
Indian PM Narenda Modi soon after urging a joint India-Pakistan war against poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and infant mortality, threatened Pakistan to use water as a weapon— A region which wholly depends on agriculture and the agrarian chain for their livelihoods.
Indian war frenzy paradigm indicates the real intention as to prolong and undermine the bone of content between Pakistan and India on the serious issue of Kashmir and Distribution of water resources. The indian strategy is to fade this matter so that after some time, the intensity will be diluted. With the passage of time, sooner or later, the incident would become another ‘historic incident’.
BJP Government and his followers must remember that Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday is on October 2; is this the way you want India to celebrate his birth anniversary? Since PM Narendra Modi was not born in 1947, let me explain something that happened in 1947. Government of India wanted to cancel due share of their money to Pakistan after partition. It was Father of Indian Nation Mahatma Gandhi who fasted to compel the Government of India to release an amount of Rs.55 Crores due to Pakistan.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday addressed the Senate that revocation of the Indus Waters Treaty by India “can be taken as an act of war” against Pakistan.
He stated that there is no provision of suspension in the treaty which was mediated by the World Bank in 1960, adding that India cannot alternate or revoke the Indus Water Treaty unilaterally.
Earlier in the day, Aziz addressed the National Assembly saying that provocative statements and actions from the Indian leadership on the Indus Waters Treaty are a violation of international laws and breach of the treaty. He said unilateral revocation of the treaty can pose a threat to Pakistan and its economy. He said that if India violates the treaty Pakistan can approach the International Court of Justice.
Pakistan will ‘react befittingly’ if India attempts to violate the Indus Waters Treaty, the adviser told the NA. Pakistan will not accept any pressure from India and will continue to highlight human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in India-held Kashmir (IHK), Aziz said.
This was in reply to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s on Monday had chaired a review meeting of the 56-year-old Indus Waters Treaty during which it was decided that India will “exploit to the maximum” the waters of Pakistan-controlled rivers, including Jhelum, as per the water sharing pact. He said, “Blood and water cannot flow together.” Modi Looks at Water Treaty With Pakistan After Terror Attack.
To show how this would work in practice, the Indian government cancelled, indefinitely, the meeting of the Indus water commissioners.
Under the treaty, which was signed by late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan President Ayub Khan in September 1960, waters of six rivers — Beas, Ravi, Sutlej, Indus, Chenab and Jhelum — were to be shared between the two countries.
Pakistan has been complaining about not receiving enough water and had gone for international arbitration in a couple of cases. The experience of the Kishanganga and Baglihar arbitrations suggests that poor policies, indecisive leadership and weak external representation have had a discernible impact on Pakistan’s ability to press for its maximum rights under the IWT.
If Mr Modi does want to wage a joint fight against poverty, Pakistan should welcome it. If he wants to threaten our country’s water resources, Pakistan should be prepared to defend itself legally and diplomatically because this matter is of life and death for Pakistan.
